To help diagnose POP3, SMTP and Internet mail problems, Microsoft included a logging option for Outlook 2000. This feature can be enabled through the registry.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new DWORD value and name it 'Logging' set the value to '1' to enable logging, or '0' to disable it.

Restart Outlook for the changes to take effect.

Note: After you establish or attempt to establish an Internet Mail session, three files will be created. The location of these files depends on the operating system you are running. Windows 98/Me - 'C:\Windows\Temp\Outlook Logging' or Windows NT/2000/XP - 'C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp\Outlook Logging\ProfileName'
